Skye Salon
Stockton’s Finest
SKYE SALON
THE 1st and only Extension focused salon in Stockton, ca.
Skye Salon, a luxe salon staffed with passionate and professional stylists, is the newest addition to Stockton, California. It is also the first hair extension-focused salon in San Joaquin County.
Located in Trinity Parkway, Skye Salon offers all of its stylists the opportunity to learn, specialize, and become certified in hair extensions. “We have hair bundles on hand, and all stylists at Skye Salon specialize in or are working on perfecting their craft in extensions. That has always been my dream to offer that,” said Skye Salon owner Tristin Phomsavan.
Phomsavan, a stylist of seven years, a hair bundle business owner, and a teacher of hand-tied extensions, opened Skye Salon in the fall of 2023 with her business partner Yury. Her love for styling and passion for hair extensions inspired Phomsavan to create a salon focused on hair extensions. With hair extension services in high demand, Skye Salon ensures every stylist can tap into that market.
Born and raised in Stockton, Phomsavan wouldn’t want to open a salon anywhere else. “It is rewarding and sentimental, and it’s nice to drive by and see my sign. To me, it’s another thing that I am doing, something that I love and am passionate about, and it’s coming from the heart,” she said.
Named after Phomsavan’s daughter, Skye Salon is a true symbol of hard work and a dream come to fruition. Skye Salon is a great addition to the Stockton community, offering services for all things hair and a sprinkle of makeup. Q&A With Tristin Phomsavan Skye Salon Owner
Q: Please describe Skye Salon in three words.
Tristin: Professional, Luxe, Home.
Q: What inspired you to become a hairstylist?
Tristin: I was always infatuated with my hair. I started coloring it at a young age and doing my friends’ and family's hair which led me to pursue cosmetology after high school.
Q: Tell us about your hairstylist journey.
Tristin: I’ve had my cosmetology license since 2017, at 20 years young. Marking it seven years thus far, I’ve dealt with the ups and downs that come with running your own business. There’s no such thing as luck in this industry; it’s all hard work and dedication.
Q: How do you feel about opening a salon in your hometown?
Tristin: It is rewarding and sentimental, but to me, it’s just another thing I am doing. I’m doing something I love and am passionate about. I wouldn’t want to open up a salon anywhere else but Stockton.
Q: Being born and raised in Stockton, California, what is something positive you can say about the city?
Tristin: Stockton has a huge community, a community that loves its people. We have so much talent here, from artists to athletes and entrepreneurs, the list goes on. We tend to forget how old, big, and well-known our city is, which is beneficial to anyone planning to open a business.
Q: What is the biggest reward for you as a business owner?
Tristin: Having more time for my daughter and family. Seeing my salon thrive, and having talented women on my team is a huge reward for me.
Q: What is some advice you can give to women as a woman and stylist?
Tristin: Just work hard and be yourself. Always think about the next big thing because the industry is always evolving. It also costs nothing to be kind to others. I don’t judge anyone who sits in my chair. I truly believe I have one of the best jobs, and that’s to make other women feel confident and beautiful.
Q: Where do you see Skye Salon and yourself going in the future?
Tristin: I see us growing, thriving, and who knows, maybe expanding. Yury and I make a great team, so it can only get better from here.
