A Getaway
I have been feeling kind of restless lately, like I need to getaway. What better way than grabbing your best friend and going to the beach. I literally could not wait to dip off to the beach and chill. Lately I have been feeling really isolated and anti social. I believe that is normal to feel in adolescence and its apart of growing up. It is a feeling that I have learned to accept and not to be scared of. Loneliness is only in our heads. I want to note however, that when some people feel this way it is hard for them to escape it. I urge anyone who is feeling surges of loneliness to reach out to someone who you trust to help you overcome those feelings. Grab a friend, or family member, let them know what is going on with you. Share your feelings of loneliness, and ask that friend to be there for you. When you notice that a friend isn’t feeling okay, or not being themselves, check on them! Plan a date out, call them and have a conversation, attend an event together. You are never alone, and no one should feel alone.
I am lucky to have a best friend of 18 years, I have known since I was 5 years old. Life did separate us for some years, but life works in mysterious ways and we found each other at the perfect time. In 2016 we met again in someones garage. I was 20 and I was going thru emotional turmoil (a break-up). She would go on to tell me later that she needed a friend like me at that time, she didn’t have many real good friends. Being around a genuine, familiar, heart is so comforting. We can talk for hours and be inspired by one another. To connect with someone who has similar values, ideas, and goals in life is a blessing and often times it is hard to find friends like that.
We grabbed some snacks, and a bottle of White wine and took off to Pacifica State beach to escape together. The beach was quiet, and the tides were a bit high. Right on the beach is a little walk up Taco Bell, which was so cute and convenient. After about 2 hours, and a backwoods, we left to Oakland to visit my favorite ice cream shop. For those of you who do not know, I am in love with ice cream. It is my favorite dessert and I love to try new ice cream places. Little Giant Ice Cream is located in downtown Oakland. They make their ice cream fresh and they use quality products. Literally my top ice cream spot right now. Please check it out if you get a chance! I hope you all get the chance to getaway sometimes. Travel, be somewhere different. It feels good to getaway, clear my mind, and have some quality time with myself and a good, trusted friend.
I hope this transition from summer to fall is smooth. During this time I start to feel a different vibe. The sun goes down sooner, the weather changes, some animals go into hibernation, people start to settle down, and get ready for the holidays. The fall is my favorite season, and I pray that this season is magical and good to us all.
